For the past five years Larry "Herk" Conn has been working on transcribing nearly 50 years
of county censuses, catching several thousand previously unknown names from the county's annual supplemental tax roll censuses from
1878 through 1925. The first book of these annual censuses is nearing publication at last.

are now being accepted at just $44 each!This classic chair was saved from the trash heap during the recent cleaning out of the attic of
the Osborne County Courthouse. OCGHS member Mildred Morgan paid for its restoration!
This lawyer's bookcase was also destined for the trash pile during the recent cleanup of the Osborne
County Courthouse attic. It was saved and cleaned by Mildred Morgan and waxed by Carolyn Schultz.
The last wooden tombstone still standing in Osborne County was that of child Carl Bryant Fay
(1894-1895). It was found toppled at last in the Downs Cemetery in November 2009 and brought to the Carnegie Research
Library by Von Rothenberger. Joe Hubbard constructed the woodframe display stand for it.
In May 2010 a descendant of Civil War veteran Amaziah Schotts visited the Carnegie to research
his ancestors. This photo of Amaziah was among the papers the descendant carried that were copied for the Carnegie's
family research files. The Carnegie also has extensive files on Osborne County military veterans. The Society
is constantly seeking additional information for both of these files, especially photographs.
Among recent materials given to the Carnegie is the Marion Darnell Photo Collection.
This collection includes photos of Marion Darnell during his service in Britain in World War II. The above
photo is that of Marion Darnell and fellow Osborne County native Ralph Bottorff, taken in London, England.

The famous luxury liner Queen Mary became a troop transport during World War II. It was aboard
